Travel Day: Desert View Watchtower & Horseshoe Bend {Grand Canyon RV Trip: Day 4} June 26

This was a Wednesday we got up had breakfast and packed up camp to hit the road. We had a 2.5 hour drive to get to our next stop. With a couple stops planned along the way.

Mary passing time stacking rocks.

Before leaving GC National Park we wanted to stop at the east entrance which was Desert View.

Oh this was actually a look out point before we got to the east of the park.

Then we stopped at Desert View Watchtower

We waited in line to get a turn to go up in the watchtower

Back on the road

Just before our next campsite in Page, we stopped to see Horseshoe bend. This isn't a national park but they charged a fee to enter, park and walk out to the site. I had told the kids to bring their water bottles thinking we could fill up... oops no such luck so we got to hear a lot of complaining on the long, hot walk to the view point.

Finally made it!

evidence of the mood:

Our campsite location was only a short drive away. We went there and settled in. This was a pretty blah camps9ite, but it had a pool and an AMAZING bathhouse with laundry included. So mid-point stop to get all the laundry done and for the kids to have some fun at the pool.

However a storm was rolling and in and due to lightening in the distance they closed the pool early. BOO!

I did fly my drone, which isn't allowed in national parks and wasn't allowed at horseshoe bend either.
